Gregory Scott Cartwright, age 58 of Talbott, formerly of Nashville TN passed away on April 25, 2026.
He was a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a BA in Christian Education and Youth and an M. Div in Biblical languages. Greg served on the ministerial staff of churches in Tennessee, Louisiana, Arizona and most recently at First Presbyterian Church Greeneville Tennessee, always working with youth and families. He also served as an adjunct professor at both New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and most recently at Tusculum University.
He enjoyed hunting and target shooting, operating his ham radio, and Pokémon. He enjoyed celebrating his Celtic heritage and proudly wore the clergy tartan to clan gatherings. He held a 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo and thoroughly enjoyed teaching the Tiny Tigers, especially with his daughter Christa. He was an Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Diane Praytor-Cartwright, daughter Christa Cartwright, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Michael and Jenny Praytor, mother-in-law Melice Praytor, sister and brother-in-law Angela and Brett Stewart and nieces Tristan and Sierra, brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Marla Cartwright and nieces Freya and Enya, and mother Dorothy Cartwright. And his beloved dog, Sadie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
