Mary Jo Payne, age 71, passed away on June 14, 2026.
Born on September 30, 1954, in Springfield, Tennessee, Mary Jo was the daughter of the late Toby Harris and Beulah Tate Harris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Scotty Lane Dickerson.
She is survived by her son, John Christopher Payne and his wife, Shannon Payne, of Greenbrier, Tennessee. Their children are Caleb Christopher Payne, Chandler Ray Payne, and Connor Payne.
She is also survived by her son, Jeremiah Wayne Payne and his wife, Samantha Payne, of Nashville, Tennessee, and their daughter, SkylarLane Joanne Payne.
SkylarLane held a special place in Mary Jo’s heart. Affectionately calling her granddaughter her “little sister,” Mary Jo shared a unique and cherished bond with SkylarLane. Her family believes that the love she had for her granddaughter gave her the strength to fight for as long as she did, until her heart could simply fight no more.
Mary Jo will be remembered for the deep love she had for her family, the kindness she showed to others, and the unwavering devotion she demonstrated to those she held dear. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
