James “Jim” Prekrel
May 11, 1945 – November 8, 2025
James “Jim” Prekrel, a beloved longtime resident of Bellevue, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. Born on May 11, 1945, Jim lived a life marked by devotion, service, and a love for simple joys. He shared 45 wonderful years with his late wife and soulmate, Wanda Sue “Susie” Potter Prekrel.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he and Susie built a life rooted in hard work and community. Together, they founded TopCoat Specialists, a local business that flourished for many years until their well-earned retirement.
Jim found happiness in the outdoors—especially fishing and watching sunsets in his favorite place, Panama City Beach, Florida. Known for a smile and laugh that could brighten any room, he touched many lives with his warmth, humor, and steady presence.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Susie; his parents, Captain Albert Prekrel and Mildred Elizabeth “Mims” Tomayko Prekrel; his sister, Judith “Judy” Prekrel Ballentine; and his brother-in-law, Kelly Wayne Potter.
Jim is survived by his nieces and nephews: Leigh Ann Potter, Kelly Potter (Esha), Sarah Maria Potter Wright (Ben), Jacqueline Potter, Jeff Forshee, and John “Dana” Ballantine III (Lori). He also leaves behind great-nieces and nephews Julian Causey (Haila), Abigail Wright, Jayden Ireland (Allie), and Christopher Maddax Wright; and great-great-nephew Waylon Causey.
A private interment with military honors will be held at a later date.
