Ellen Leonore Jones, age 86, of Waverly, Tennessee, passed away at Ascension Saint Thomas Three Rivers Hospital on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Ellen was born in Bochum, Germany, on April 27, 1940, to the late Wilhelm and Elisabeth Wōhler. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved being outdoors and going for walks. Ellen was a devoted wife to the late Thomas Jones for 57 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas Mark Jones (Lori) of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Diane Jones “Sissy” of Waverly, Tennessee; and five grandchildren: Sonya Gray (Chris) of Waverly, Tennessee, Jimmy Jordan of Camden, Tennessee, Christopher Jones of Des Moines, Iowa, Cameron Jones of Tallahassee, Florida, and Susan Ivey (Brian) of Savannah, Georgia.
She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Kaylee Gray, Kelsey Gray, Bryan Schoen, Caleb Seabaugh, Hailey Singletary (Ryan), and Gavin Ivey.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Elisabeth Wōhler, and her husband, Thomas Jones.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Cemetery in Waverly, Tennessee.
