Damon K Smith, Jr, 92 of Cookeville, TN passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at his home in line with his wishes. Damon was born on December, 9 1932 in White Plains, NY to the late Damon Smith Sr and Arlene Hufford Smith. Damon married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Fridy in 1953 and together had 7 children. He was a hard worker and worked several jobs finding his stride as a route salesman at Drake’s Cakes. His pride in his work earned him his place as the top salesman for Drakes; he was loved by customers and managers alike for his approach to the freshest product around.
Raising such a large family, Damon was always quite enterprising in finding deals to buy food at the best bargains. He regularly shared his tactics to get food for almost free using coupons and other money-saving techniques. When Damon retired, they moved from Milford, CT to Cookeville TN to be “close – but not too close” to their children in GA. They loved their new community and church and were able to travel to many places during their retirement.
Damon is survived by four children: Pam (and Walter) Mayercik, Craig Smith, Kim Marie Galligan, and Kristina Lamparelli, thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, sister Barbara Riddle, two nephews, and one niece.
In addition to his parents, Damon was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Barbara Smith, three children Todd, Scott, and Kyle Smith.
A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookville TN.
