Ronald (Ron) S. Payne was born April 3, 1947, in Memphis, TN. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he started a lifelong career as a truck driver. He drove for AF & FedEx Freight for many years. He eventually became an Owner Operator. He and his wife teamed together as cross-country truck drivers for 10 years until they retired in 2009. Ron loved his family, friends, furbabies and country very much.
On December 12, 2025 after a long battle with his heart, cancer, diabetes Ron went back “On the Road Again” to be with the Lord.
Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Vergie ‘Ackers’ Payne and his father Wilburn S. Payne and Brother Leslie Payne.
He is survived by his wife of 29+ years, Karen Payne of Sugar Tree, TN, his Daughter, Rhonda Payne-Steely (Robin) Nashville, TN & Son, Michael Payne, Memphis, TN. And one Step-Grandson, Luke Steely, and many other family members and dear friends.
Ron has chosen to be cremated, with no funeral service.
He will be missed by many. Rest in Peace Ronald S. Payne.
