Joseph Aloysius Vaidik- Age 93 – Nashville, TN

Joseph Aloysius Vaidik of Nashville, TN departed this life on May 23, 2025, while in Hospice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Clara Vaidik. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years and his loving daughter, Susan.

He was born and raised in Detroit, MI. He went to school at Nativity of our Lord in Detroit. He joined the Airforce at an early age and was a proud Veteran.

He spent time in various locations, including Greenland, Texas and Korea.

When he returned to the US from Korea circa 1950, he had the option of completing his time by going to UT for 4 years and, if not successful, he could finalize his time at McGee AF base in Maryville, TN. He did attend UT for a while but decided to continue with the Airforce at McGee Tyson.

During this time, he met the love of his life while in Maryville. They were married and soon afterward, he was transferred to Savannah, GA. While there, his daughter, Susan, was born.

In 1956, he was discharged and moved back to Detroit where he had a job at Chrysler awaiting him. Soon afterward, he was laid off. He was unemployed for a couple of years but soon attained employment with the US Gov. He worked at the Corp of Engineers and soon transferred to the IRS where he was in charge of the Witness Protection program. From there, he went to TACOM where he assisted with placing the Humvee in the field. He was also a Union Rep and assisted many of his co-workers with their problems. Joseph had a great sense of humor and could hold one’s attention endlessly. He had many interesting stories and tales to tell. After retiring from the Federal Government, he and Mary Lee purchased a small motor home and traveled across the country. Then, in 1995, they moved to Nashville, TN to be close to their only daughter.
